The new independent group now has eleven members.

Labour and the Conservatives could face more resignations, with members of the new Independent Group saying they expect more MPs to join them.

Ex-Tory MP Heidi Allen told ITV's Peston programme "a third" of Tory MPs were fed up with the party's direction.

Tory MP Justine Greening said she would quit her party if it allowed a no-deal Brexit, while Labour's Ian Austin said he was considering his position.

MPs from the new group say they stand for "the centre ground of politics".

I guess that this kind of thing was expected to a degree, and this "centre-ground" breakaway could finish up looking a bit like Tony Blair's New Labour in time.

Blair's New Labour were successful for a short time and maybe this new party might be just as successful.

I think it is twelve now as another Tory just jumped ship.

If this continues we may find that instead of a three party system we could finish up with a one or two party system.

I think that the last one to "jump ship" was a Labourite Zathrus.

Anyway, as they usually do, the Liberal Democrats are asking the independent party to join their ranks.

I don't know how well that will go with the rebels.

Yeah, the latest to jump was a Labour MP.

The Liberal Democrats are offering these rebels a centre ground stance if they want to help to form a third force.

Of course that does sound very Liberal Democrats as the last time they took sides was when they propped up the Tories in a general election.

Yeah, it appears that the Lib-Dems will make partnerships with anybody that might increase their power.
