    Avoid the great ticket rip-off.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 22 Oct 2018, 11:40 am

According to UK Music’s Measuring Music 2016 report, the total audience for live music alone is 27.7 million per year.

That’s a lot of people… and a lot of booking fees.

So how can you make sure you won't be ripped off?

Selling tickets has become big business and, unfortunately, the buying process is now littered with charges - many of which are regularly hidden away until the last minute.

The two most common charges you're likely to be hit with are booking fees and delivery fees.

As far as delivery fees go, they vary widely and if your tickets are going to be sent out via recorded delivery – which is becoming increasingly common – the cost will depend on where you live and how quickly you need them.

Yes, as I go to lots of music events this has become a particular hate of mine.

It is good that we can now get some insider knowledge on how this works and how to avoid the traps.

I don't go to many concerts but my family does and they are always complaining about the cost of tickets.

There should only be ONE outlet for tickets and they should not be sold to "bots".

Got to agree with that mate.

If the original sellers stopped accepting multiple requests for tickets electronically then it would be just the real fans that would get the tickets at the right price.

To me that would solve the problem completely.

The trouble is that the original ticket sellers have back-door connections to the expensive re-sellers.

All of this is going to have to be shut down if we are to see ticket prices go back to face values.

The great trouble is that the fans seem willing to pay any price to see their heroes. So long as this prevails they will continue to be ripped off.
