Thinking critically and acting assertively can protect you from getting scammed

From David DiSalvo of Psychology Today.

Rip offs come in many flavours.

Often they are financial, but they can also be related to any behavior someone wants you to engage in that, in truth, isn't in your best interest.

Below I offer five ways to avoid being ripped off financially or otherwise.

I know this is looking at the Rip-Off syndrome from a rather strange angle, but when I read the full article I found it to be both interesting and informative.

A psychological look at it is certainly a different way to do it.

Mind you I have never totally trusted psychology as it always seems to be a bit of hocus-pocus.

Know what you mean Zathrus, as many of the sciences of the mind, ( the brain ), do seem to be guessing a lot of the time.

This said, there are many highly educated people who either work at Psychiatry, or Psychology or even brain surgery that do seem to know what they are doing.

I guess, that we just have to trust them that they know what they are doing.

Got to agree too that many so-called brain experts do not seem to know what they are doing.

How can we trust surgeons when this is allowed to happen ?

As brain surgeons go he was a disgrace, and he has now received his just desserts.

I am sure that ninety-nine percent of brain surgeons are brilliant at what they do.

The psychiatry and psychology sciences are often a hit or a miss.
