Water companies to cut bills in England and Wales.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 03 Sep 2018, 11:54 am

Water companies have set out plans to cut bills for millions of consumers in England and Wales.

Severn Trent and United Utilities said they would cut the average bill by 5% and 10.5% respectively.

Thames Water said bills would be unchanged.

South West Water said it would offer customers a stake in the business.

The plans are being submitted by water companies in England and Wales to the regulator Ofwat for the five years between 2020-2025.

Ofwat will publish an assessment of each company's plan in January 2019.

The regulator said in December that the results of its price review would result in a cut in bills between 15 and 25 a year from 2020 to 2025.

We shall see what we shall see when next year comes around.

Personally, I would not trust the water boards any further than I could swim on Loch Lomond.

There should be complete and far-reaching action against all of these energy companies so that they are forced to follow a totally fair pricing policy.

This was promised by the government but it has yet to happen.

Water is just one of the energies that needs to be sorted out.

They say that competition should sort out fair prices for customers, but it has yet to have much of an effect on what the customers pay.

Real competition does not actually exist in Britain as the people who should be competing with each other spend too much time getting their heads together and price-matching.

Yes, the fact that no REAL competition exists in Britain generates these situations.

    Well said Angie.
