    Skeletal 'beests' walk the shoreline.

Post by papa_umau on Wed 08 Aug 2018, 11:05 am

"Strandbeests" or "beach animals" are made from PVC tube and are powered by the wind.

Creator Theo Jansen uploads videos of his creations to YouTube, attracting fans worldwide including the US space agency Nasa.

Have a look at these varied "animals" as they walk along a shore without any aid. HERE

When I saw these creations "walking" along a beach by the aid of wind I was totally astounded by the poetry in their movement.

Click on the link and then start the video and wonder at these creations too.

Wow, these inventions are nothing less than wonderful.

It is also interesting that NASA are thinking about using a walker like this to do their exploration of the other planets.

Yes, wheels will probably not let space-exploration rovers work in some terrains.

Such "walkers" might just be the answer to this problem.

There is no doubt about that Angie, when we see these "creatures" walking so smoothly along a beach with no power but the wind to drive them they look very magical.
