    The local election results.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 07 May 2018, 4:01 pm

Local election results 2018: The results in maps and charts.

With the final result declared Labour has taken control of Tower Hamlets, but has failed to take other target councils in London, while the Conservatives have lost control of two councils overall.

The Lib Dems have gained four councils, two of them in London. UKIP has lost over 120 councillors and the Greens have a net increase of eight councillors.

Those councils changing hands are listed in the BBC link HERE

I know that very few Brits have a lot of interest in local elections but they can at times be a view of how the country is thinking.

Yes, while the results in local elections do give us an idea how people might vote in a proper election it is not what I would call a dependable view of such things.

I do not think that Corbyn cares much about these results either as his Labour Party did nothing like what he was expecting.

    Very true Zathrus.

I do think that the voters vote for different things when they are voting at a national election as these elections are more likely to change their lives, for better or worse.

Local elections are supposed to give a flavour of how the voters might go in the nearest general election, but I don't think that these results mean all that much at all.

I will start to take a better interest in politics when the next general election approaches.
