Fixed betting terminals to be set at 30.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 19 Mar 2018, 12:06 pm

The maximum stake for fixed odds betting terminals (FOBT) should be cut to 30 or less, the UK's Gambling Commission has recommended.

Currently people can bet up to 100 every 20 seconds on electronic casino games, such as roulette and blackjack.

This comes after a consultation on FOBTs for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

The commission says the maximum stake on "slots games", like traditional fruit machine games, should be 2.

There has been talk like this for many years, but it is finally time that something is to be done with Fixed Odds Betting Terminals.

Whether the government will do anything with this recommendation or not is another story altogether.

    Not far enough.

These evil machines should either be banned altogether or the limit on them should be set at around 2.00.

As usual, the government are weak and hopeless when we need to be protected from such gambling temptation.

Ahhhh, now we know why the commission is not dropping the cap to 2.00 instead of 30.00 pounds.

If they did that they would lose a lot of gambling tax revenues.

Once again, we find that the Tory government do not care about the people or the gambling addicts at all.

These bloody things should be simply banned.

I know what the effects are like as my "partner" is addicted to them like many other people are.

Of course the government will not "ban" them as they are a great source of tax revenue.

YES, that is the reason why this form of "crack cocaine of gambling" is allowed after all of these years.

Here is a fact that is good to know:

Government nets 670million a YEAR from "crack cocaine of gambling" machines. ( Better known as FOBT or Fixed Betting Gambling Terminals ).

If these machines were banned both the bookies and HMT or ( Her Majesty's Treasury ), would take a bit hit in lost revenue.

Campaigners fear the Chancellor is resisting demands to curb fixed odds betting terminals as they generate so much money for the Treasury.

George Osborne had been accused of dodging a clampdown on betting machines after figures revealed they net the taxman nearly 13million a week.

Machine games duty pumps almost 670million a year into Treasury coffers, with fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs) thought to account for the bulk of the cash.

Well folks, there you have it.

Where would the treasury replace that loss from if it was taken away by a ban on FOBTs ?
