Private drone fliers to get safety tested.

Post by papa_umau on Sun 26 Nov 2017, 11:42 am

UK drone users to sit safety tests under new law.

Drone users in the UK will be required to do safety awareness tests as part of planned new legislation on their usage.

Police will also be given new powers to crack down on illegal use of the unmanned aerial vehicles.

The government hopes to harness new drone technology which could see them used on oil rigs, in construction, for organ transport and parcel deliveries.

The bill has been welcomed by the pilots' union, which has warned of near misses involving drones and aircraft.

I am a member of a photo-group on my phone and I think that many of the photographers that use drones regularly will be shocked by that.

I think that this will apply to the bigger and heavier drones out there and the little ones that will be given for Christmas presents will get out of this act.

Yes, I do think there is going to be a "weight" cut-off point to the strong legislation against drones that is coming.

After Christmas we will see these nasty little things buzzing over our heads and looking into our bedrooms.

I think the new laws should do more in this respect.

There are privacy laws that already cover this.

The height that these little fliers can go will be very important as they could crash into planes if they can reach those heights. I doubt very much if the toy ones will be able to do this.

I'm glad that something is being done to regulate them; although I would like one to help me see the places I'm no longer able to visit 'on foot', so to speak. As a formerly very active person now in a wheelchair, the frustration of being unable to get up to the top of a building to experience a view, or to the top of a mountain, is indescribable.
