Paradise Papers: Lord Ashcroft 'ignored rules' on offshore trust

Tory donor Lord Ashcroft ignored rules around the management of his offshore investments, leaked documents suggest.

The peer gave assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the Punta Gorda Trust in Bermuda in 2000.

The Paradise Papers suggests he sometimes made decisions without consulting trust officials.

Such action could see the trust challenged by HMRC.

Lord Ashcroft said he would not respond because of the way he has been treated by BBC Panorama in the past.

Even with the knowledge that has been gleaned from the Paradise Papers, many of the rich and famous still continue to avoid and in some cases evade paying their true share of the nation's taxation.

I wonder if these tax-cheats will actually ever be brought to book ?

    What say you ?

You got onto this one PDQ Paps.

It is now headlining the daily news items on the TV and in the newspapers.

Before seeing it mentioned here I had no clue about how many thousands of previously hidden papers has come out into the public domain via this massive leak.

I think this is going to run for a very long time.

Yes Zathrus, I usually get the latest news from Reuters, and before the rest of the news-media companies get it out on the street.

The "Paradise Papers" leaks are going to be running and running for a while yet.

Yes, they will be running for a long time, and I am very pleased about that as these leaks are showing up a lot of crooks and swindlers.

I don't think there has ever been a bigger whistleblowing event than this.
