Why did YOU vote for Brexit ?

Post by papa_umau on Mon 16 Oct 2017, 11:48 am

    One person's view:

BREXIT was about Inequality in Britain, not Immigration. Have our politicians realised this?

Those still puzzling why Britons voted to leave the European Union (EU) in June 2016 should look to what's wrong in Britain and not to Europe.á

Naturally there will be many different individual reasons, but the dog whistles blown by both BREXIT (xenophobia) and BREMAIN (punishment) were not the decisive cause of the result.

Well folks, what do you think of this speculation ?

What's YOU'RE reason for the Brexiteers winning the referendum vote ?á

Yeah, I voted to remain too, but I have always been concerned that many of the "out" voters came from the hard right wing that are against anything they can think about..

The hard-right Fascist and neo-Nazis that used to be just a fraction of our voting numbers are now growing exponentially.

This is a disturbing trend that should be watched very carefully.

That guy has a view that a lot of us would not argue with.

Even although I too voted to remain I cannot agree with the writer that the vote went to the "out" side because of inequality.

It went that way because many thousands of people in Englandá had become afraid of the numbers of immigrants that were being allowed in. They voted that way because of FEAR.

Also, the numbers of immigrants settling in the midlands make the locals very nervous about the annual rate of incomers.

The Tories promised to bring this down to a few thousand per year, but they never had any effect on the numbers of legal and illegal immigrants that have come in. In fact the cannot even provide a total number of immigrants that has come in over the years.

Here in Scotland we NEED a steady flow of immigrants from Europe in order to keep the employment high on menial tasks that mostly of the locals won't do.

When I went into nursing training, the majority of my 'set' were Indian or Philippino. For some reason, British entries were down at that time, and we were recruiting abroad. the Nursing Press was full of ads for qualified nurses to go to the States. Young doctors were also being actively sought.

Britain had always trained foreign nurses, and often they stayed after finishing their training to work here.

Since nurse training became University based, it has become difficult to get qualified nurses to come to Britain, partly because of the cost of accommodation, and secondly because they can make more money elsewhere.

Britain dispensed with the second tier of qualified nurses, those who did the hands on caring, in favour of Health care Assistants, who don't have the knowledge of the Enrolled Nurses, who were the backbone of the system, and who taught the basics to students and Auxiliaries, allowing the Staff Nurses and Sisters to administer the wards.

This is one of the reasons why folk are leaving hospitals malnourished, or even dying of dehydration.
