Even the oil companies are relenting now.

Shell buys its first electric car charging station firm in Europe

Even oil companies have begun to realize the future will not be nearly as reliant on fossil fuels, and Royal Dutch Shell is moving to safeguard its future business.

The Dutch oil company acquired NewMotion, an electric-car charging station firm, for an undisclosed price.

NewMotion, also based in the Netherlands, has more than 30,000 electric-car charging stations in Europe, according to CNN.

The company specializes in converting normal parking spaces into charging points for electric cars.

Shell called the acquisition a "form of diversification" as the company acknowledges future fossil-fuel bans.

If nothing tells us that an electric car revolution is coming this certainly does.

As soon as the oil-companies start to invest heavily in EV charging structures they are showing that they must be aware that the end of diesel and petrol vehicles is in sight.

This is great news to the people like us that want to get rid of dirty polluters like the fossil-fuel-burning road-vehicles.

When I saw the Opec Arabs starting to actively support the renewable industries I thought that the number was up for oil and gas sales.

Correct, andá the rest of Europe should follow the lead given by Royal Dutch Shell and the other Scandinavian countries as far as moving away from fossil-fuelled vehicles.

Britain has said that it is going to at the forefront of this revolution, but all of the countries saying this are very slow to actually get going in that direction.

When the oil companies in Opec and in The Nederlands start to make these big changes it becomes obvious that the rest of the world is going to have to follow their example.

As the price of oil keeps dropping because fewer people and countries want to burn it in road-vehicles we are going to see filling stations closing in large numbers and being replaced by fast-charging stations for electric and plug-in hybrids.

It's the way of the future, and nothing can stop this ball rolling once it has got underway.
