Theresa May pledges help for young on student fees and housing

Theresa May has admitted a change in her party's approach on tuition fees in England, saying she has listened to voters and fees will freeze at 9,250.

Fee repayment thresholds will also rise, so graduates will start paying back loans once they earn 25,000, rather than 21,000, the PM said.

She said the whole student finance system would be reviewed and did not rule out a move to a graduate tax.

Labour, which wants to scrap tuition fees, called the plan "desperate".

The prime minister, who is in Manchester for her party's conference, also pledged to extend the Help to Buy scheme which helps people buy newly-built homes, in an attempt to win over younger voters.

I want to know who the hell does she think she is kidding ?

She is only doing this to show that she is interested when we all know she doesn't give a damn about the poor young folk wanting to go to university.

What is really happening here is that amongst other things she is panicking about tuition fees after Scotland had already scrapped them and Labour say they want to do that too in their new manifesto.

    She is LYING.

She says she is going to do many things but when push comes to shove she usually waters down and radical plans she might have.

At that cock-up of a speech she made yesterday to the faithful we were left in no doubt that she is a charlatan

I have no clue as to how she continues to survive.

After her abysmal performance at the Tory conference she really must be seen as the Prime Minster that has little or no support.

The big problem here is that the large group of back-stabbers do not really have anybody to put in her place.

If BO-JO tries to run for the job he would be laughed down.

The Tories really do not know where to go to from here.

The fixing of that problem could be easily done by scrapping the tuition fees and bringing back in grants instead of loans, as it used to be.

At the moment the national debt is sitting at 1.8 trillion, and has risen by 555 billion since George Osborne took it over.

That makes a laughing stock of all of the austerity plans that have hurt so many of the poorer people of the UK.

Austerity just does not work but the Tories would never admit it.

And, what is even more laughable is the fact that Labour got the reputation for being the tax-and-spend government.

Under the Tories I cannot see the national debt being reduced at all before the next general election.

It is a fact that all of the austerity policies, that hit the poorest the hardest, have not reduced the national debt by a penny.

What bothers me most is that the interest rate is currently set at around 6% for repayment. If the BOE raises rates this can only go up.
