A letter from America about Trump's outrageous power.

Post by papa_umau on Wed 13 Sep 2017, 11:00 am

Tell Congress, Stop Trump From Starting Nuclear War

Many would say that Donald Trump should be the last person authorized to launch US nuclear weapons. In fact, he is the only person that is.

As shocking as it sounds, President Trump alone has the power to launch thousands of nuclear weapons enough to end life on Earth as we know it. He does not have to consult anyone. He does not need the consent of military commanders, his Cabinet or Congress. He can pick up the phone and within 4 minutes send nuclear missiles flying across the world.

    Together, America can change that.

Two members of Congress, Rep. Ted Lieu and Sen. Ed Markey, have proposed urgent legislation to prevent the President from starting a nuclear war. The New York Times endorsed the legislation in a major editorial, writing that it "sends a clear message to Mr. Trump that he should not be the first since World War II to use nuclear weapons."

I am sure that many of us in Britain have considered this subject long before the Americans did as most of us do not want Trump's finger on the Armageddon button any more than they do.

Do you thing that this is a good idea or not ?

    And dead right too.

The thing is that none of us or the Americans ever worried that past presidents were carrying the launch codes in their accompanying briefcases.

It is only the loon called Trump that makes the world nervous about that particular finger on the button.

Yes, the Americans have never shown fear of this happening with any of the past presidents, and there were a few doozies amongst them too.

Trump must be the least trusted of all of the past presidents.

I wonder how he manages to survive in the post with the idiotic things he says on Twitter.

Just the idea of an American president communicating on Twitter is crazy anyway.

Yes, it appears that Trump's rants on twitter are being accepted as the way to do it.

In my opinion, this makes the American legislature into a laughing-stock.

Trump scares me. What I see is a rich kid, grown up with nobody in control, to teach him manners and acceptable behaviour, facing off against another of the same kind.

Unfortunately we are the toys on their game board.

Yes, that is the scariest thing of all, as they seem to think that brinkmanship with a third world war ON TWITTER is the way to do it.

As a democratic country, the American government must be terribly embarrassed by the rubbish that Trump sends to us all over Twitter.

Worse, because North Korea is a Communist dictatorship, without any recourse to democracy, the threats that Kim Jong-un send over Twitter as well need to be worried about.

His latest crazy threat of exploding a "hydrogen bomb via a missile" in the middle of the Pacific Ocean has to be the most de-stabilising thing that he has done yet. If he ever does carry out this threat I am concerned that Trump might have to retaliate with a hydrogen bomb of his own.

And now he is threatening to "destroy" North Korea, which, of course generated another childish retort from Kim Jong-un of exploding a hydrogen bomb in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

What I would like to see is both of these idiots put into an arena somewhere where they can knock lumps out of each other just like in a schoolyard fight, after which they are both expelled.

Yes, that used to be the way that some battles were settled in the olden days.

A champion from each army was put onto a neutral field to fight and the one that won settled the dispute in the favour of his people.
