    May has done it again.

Public sector pay cap to be lifted for police and prison officers

The government is to lift the 1% public sector pay cap for the first time for both police and prison officers, the BBC understands.

Ministers are expected to accept recommendations for higher pay rises this week and also to pave the way for similar increases in other sectors.

BBC political correspondent Iain Watson said it was the "first concrete example of the pay cap being dismantled".

As I see it Theresa May has been bounced into lifting the 1% pay cap for the public services because Scotland is lifting it for ALL of these services.

But, to only lift the cap for police and prison officers is a move that is going to cause havoc within the unions.

After tremendous pressure she has now relented and said that the 1% cap will be lifted for the rest of the public services next year.

One of her greatest supporters in the past George Osborne has now said that He wants to "chop her up and put her in his freezer".

    Thanks for that Zathrus.

I too find it amazing that Osborne would say such a thing about the PM.

Mind you, it does seem that after being sacked by Theresa May, he is going to hold a grudge over that for a very long time.

But then again, that is what we expect from the Tories.

Hatred of colleagues is never very well hidden amongst the Tories.

It is good that after seven years of austerity the one percent cap for public servants is finally going to be lifted.

I hope it is for more than just the police and prison officers, as the teachers and the nurses have been suffering under this cruel policy too.

And there are more than just teachers and nurses too as ANYONE who has been employed in the public services has suffered that 1% cap for more than seven years.

I cannot see May delivering a much needed pay rise of over one percent to just a few of her hand-picked public services.

The cap was for ALL of the public services and if it is being lifted it should be lifted for ALL of them too.
