Britain's Brexit papers are just not good enough.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 29 Aug 2017, 11:53 am

Britain’s Brexit position papers are not good enough, EU president Jean-Claude Juncker says.

The EU has continued to ratchet up its rhetoric against Britain's negotiation team.

The position papers produced by the British government to set out of its stances on different Brexit issues are not “satisfactory”, the president of the European Commission has said.

Speaking at a conference of EU ambassadors on Tuesday morning Jean-Claude Juncker said there were still an “enormous” number of issues to be settled in negotiations, which have re-started this week.

His comments follow criticism of the UK’s “ambiguity” in negotiations by EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier on Monday afternoon.

Of course our Brexit negotiator has to try to push what he has in his latest papers as I doubt very much if he has a free hand to do ANY negotiating.

As I see it, every time that Juncker rubbishes the latest set of papers that Davis presents to him he is going to have to go back to the Cabinet and the PM to get information as what to do next.

If this is the way that the Brexit negotiations are going to go we are going to see progress taking much more than two years, as first intimated.

Yes, the negotiating team just do not have the power to make any real deals without referring back to the government.

If any really big deals are going to be done they might have to go to a full vote on the floor of the house.

One thing is sure, and that is that Theresa May will certainly have to influence any such decisions.

Well evaluated Zathrus, as that is precisely what is going to happen long before the Brexit negotiations are concluded.

David Davis must be feeling particular useless at the moment, as he can do very little "off the cuff" if the EU negotiators keep rubbishing his papers.

Did any of you think like I did when I saw that idiot Davis going into laughing mode. I guess that is how he deals with embarrassments.

He must have been truly embarrassed when Junkers dismissed his papers out of hand.

Yes, I saw the embarrassed laughter coming from Davis; maybe that is his way of trying not to look stupid and ineffective.

I think the Brexit debacle could mean the end of Davis's career in politics too, as, if this is not a poisoned chalice then I will eat my hat.

With us basically having to fight 27 countries, The negotiating team should have organised itself better and have a strategy and backups in place before the start. This is just the Government going off at half-cock, as usual!

New Zealand, no stranger to these kinds of negotiations, offered to send us negotiators, we refused. WHY?

Davies couldn't organise the proverbial booze up in a brewery!

I didn't know that New-Zealand offered to send us advisors.

Isn't that just typical of our government.

These negotiations are going to go on for a very long time, and I cannot see us getting ANYTHING out of them.

Junkers is going to have the thought in the back of his mind that it was us that wanted out and he is not going to make it easy.

Laughing boy Davis is just not up to the job.
