The walking disaster that is Theresa May.

Post by papa_umau on Thu 13 Jul 2017, 12:21 pm

Theresa May's 15 most disastrous moments in her first year as Prime Minister

The Tory leader began with sky-high ratings and a lead of more than 20 points over Labour in the polls. Here we chronicle the disasters behind her decline.

It's hard to believe Theresa May only became Prime Minister a year ago.
Since then we've triggered Brexit , had an election shocker an U-turned more than a broken satnav.

The Tory leader began with sky-high ratings and a lead of more than 20 points over Labour in the polls.

But her party lost its majority in the general election after a disastrous election peppered by what her critics said was poor judgement.

So what are the most memorable, disastrous and awkward moments in the short history of Prime Minister May?

We've rounded up 15, from serious to light, that might end up in the history books.

Read these 15 cockups from Theresa May in my daily paper The Daily Record. HERE

Surely this car-crash of a PM must be the worst one that any Tory party has put in place since the inception of our British democracy ?

    Comments anyone ?

I find it amazing that this woman is still in power after the number of things she has got wrong.

A bit like Trump, on the other side of the Atlantic, she and he are well past their sell-by dates.

The world of politics is a crazy world, no doubt.

As I have said, many times, once the majority of the Brexit battles have been lost or won Theresa May will no longer be worth her salt and the Tory grandees will turf her out.

This may take a long time.

Yes HG, she is getting to have a very poor position as a Prime Minister.

And the alternative is? The Tories still have what is basically a minority government. Even Chuck Norris couldn't keep the lid on this one.

This is just mud slinging by the media

I agree; we don't have credible leaders at the moment, A particularly bad time to have weak leadership when we are on a countdown to Brexit.

I still think Brexit will fall by the wayside HG - there are far more important things to fix. It was after all a close run contest that was nearly a draw, and as you pointed out about u-turns, what's one more?

I cannot see Theresa May surviving the Brexit negotiations as afterwards she will have made too many enemies to continue as PM.

This, and the awful and dirty deal done with the NI DUP could cause the government to fall and another election to be held soon afterwards.

Who will come in in the place of the Tories, I have no clue.

I really do not know either, the stuffing seems to have fallen out of both the major parties, especially with the knives out for both leaders. Personally, I feel it is unfortunate that the Beast of Bolsover (Dennis Skinner) is too old to take up the Labour Leadership!

What we need is a youngish and intelligent, centre-left leader in the Labour party, a bit like Tony Blair but without his damaging foibles, to bring the next government truly to the centre-ground and without all the hang-ups found in the hard right and the hard left.

I feel that the great majority of the country would vote for such a man if he exists somewhere.
