The government systematically failing our youngsters.

This Government Is Systematically Failing The Youngest And Most Vulnerable Members Of Our Society

A damning report published today by the Children’s Commissioner for England reveals millions of children in England are living vulnerable or high risk lives.

Whilst the report provides us with new analysis confirming the immense scale of the problem, it confirms what we already know - that the Government are systematically failing our youngest, most vulnerable members of society.

The report finds over half a million children are so vulnerable that the state has to step in, whilst 670,000 children in England are growing up in ‘high risk’ family situations; that 1000s of children are living with adults in treatment for drink or drugs; that over 800,000 children are suffering from mental health difficulties; that tens of thousands of children are involved with gangs; that there are over a thousand new child victims of slavery each year and that many more children are living under the radar and are simply not being seen.

I know that this is just an online blog, but I have found that it produces some very good stories.

Don't knock it until you have tried it.

Yes, I too follow the Huff-Post.

We do not need to have this problem shoved down our throats as almost all of us already know it is true.

Do not expect this to improve under any Tory government.

    That's right blame the Tories.

Would you prefer a system where the children are taken from parents and brought up by the state? That would be much better wouldn't it. Then we wouldn't have Rotherham/Rochdale....wait a minute, the state ran these places? Oh well.....

Sorry Zath but we are all fallible and this sort of stuff goes with the patch. It is called parenting.

It is easy to blame the incumbent government as they are the ones that are in charge.

That does not detract from the fact that the Tories are only hanging on by the skin of their teeth.

As far as  nationalising the essential services is concerned, as long as they get the right money and they learn from the mistakes of the past there is not reason why such services cannot be run efficiently and successfully by the state.

Many European states run nationalised essential services very succesfully and all we need to do is to learn from them about how to do it.

While nationalisation has had a chequered past, there is no reason why it cannot be successful if fully funded and managed professionally.

It is a good analogy to compare to the European nationalised systems as they seem to run well without constant bolstering by the governments.

What I like to see in nationalisation is the money we pay going straight back into the service and not into the pockets of the privateer fat-cats.

    Oh ye of short memories...

I have NO wish to return to the bad old days of the seventies with strikes, shortages, queues, waiting lists, draughty trains that never ran on time....

"The bad old days" as you call them do NOT need to return if the new management of the re-nationalised services learn from their previous mistakes and copy how they do it in Europe.

One great quality of human beings is to be able to adapt and to change when we need to.
