Was a "D" notice issued on news items connected with Grenfell ?

Post by papa_umau on Mon 19 Jun 2017, 11:50 am

I know that the news organisations can have a government "D" notice placed on what they can report about national security connected news.

The fact that the newspapers are not even allowed to report that fact is all part and parcel of the restriction itself.

I think it is only fair that I should tell the ROBsters that a "D" notice HAS NOT been placed on certain bits of information that might be reported surrounding the Grenfell fire because the government are afraid that reporting ALL of the facts at one time could cause civil unrest and even riots.

Many of you will have already noticed that the ongoing news items about this terrible fire have just been drip-fed to the populace, and I can now confirm that that has triggered some "D" notice rumours that are going about.

Here is more on this from BUZZFEED

One was issued, for example, following last month's Manchester bombing.

    That's interesting Paps.

Mind you, even if there was "D" notice issued for Grenfell then we would not know about it, as it would be denied by the powers that be.

Yes, the action of serving a "D" notice on the press is supposed to be kept secret, but that information is almost always found out.

In fact, the full acronym for this act is called a DSMA, (The Defence and Security Media Advisory ), notice where some news items are deemed to be too much of a risk to Britain's security system, and cannot be released to the public.
