Another powerful Tory attacking the PM.

Philip Hammond attacks Tory general election campaign

Chancellor Philip Hammond has criticised the way the Conservatives fought the general election campaign, saying there should have been more focus on the economy.

Mr Hammond said he was unhappy with the low-key role he was given and that the Tories should have put more effort into "dismantling" Labour's plans.

He also said the government "heard a message" in the election that people were "weary" of spending cuts.
"We are not deaf," he told the BBC.

AND.... Ten ways that the PM blew her majority

I think that almost all of the Tory party now know that Theresa May destroyed every chance the Tories had of winning the snap election.

If she survives into the Brexit negotiations I will be very surprised.

Just about everybody knows that she is just not up to the job, so why is it taking so long to oust her ?

Maybe this is not being done because nobody wants to be Prime Minister while the Brexit negotiations are going on ?

At the moment she is drinking from a poisoned chalice and nobody else wants to take it from her.

Yes Zathrus, I think that that is the reason why nobody wants the job at the moment.

I like the words "a poisoned chalice" as that fits the job precisely.

In fact, I do not know how she is surviving the massive stress she is under at the moment.

Yes Zathrus, I like the phrase "poisoned chalice" too.

At the moment I think we would have great difficulty finding anyone who would take that job.

I honestly think that Theresa May would LOVE to get out of that job if she could do it and still save face.

She ran a very strange campaign, it was all about Her. Her battle bus was a perfect example of her ego driven self belief, with the only mention of her Party in miniscule letters on the doors.

She had no inkling how the general public were turning away from her and Conservative policies, which can be clearly seen in the aftermath when she U turned so many times she was practically spinning!

The proposed repeal of the Foxhunting Bill turned many folk away from her.

Now, I think the Tories are letting her be the author of her own destruction, hoping she'll mop up the negativity caused by the Manchester bombing, the London attacks and the Grenfell Tower, and hoping the mud sticks to her rather than the Tory Party itself. I doubt there will be another quick General Election, or Brenda from Bristol will probably say a lot more than 'What? Another one?'

Well said about all of that HG.

The Tory machine is allowing her to take the flak for all that has gone on since and including the abortive "snap" election.

I am sure that once all of the flak that is coming from the Brexit negotiations is past we will not see her for smoke.
