Green party stands aside to help keep the Tories out.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 08 May 2017, 10:42 am

Green Party stands aside in crucial seats to help keep Conservatives out.

'Our political system is broken, and it makes no sense that parties with many common values stand against each other and let the Tories through', says candidate.

The Green Party has confirmed it will not stand candidates in a number of crucial Tory-Lib Dem marginals, in an effort to help defeat the Conservatives.

A Green candidate in Oxford West and Abingdon, where the Lib Dems came second in the 2015 general election, has announced she will be stepping down after a meeting with local party members.

Wouldn't it be nice if more of the low-support parties were to do this just so they can help keep the Tories out ?

While this is unlikely to have any profound effect on the polls on 8th June it would show just how many people of all shades do not want the Tories elected again.

It does appear that many of the green candidates are now not standing in a strategic attempt at massaging the figures.

I cannot see that having much effect in the great scheme of things.

Hahahahahahaa the green vote will make no difference to anybody - nor will the collapsing UKIP vote.

Electoral pacts are a fraud on the electorate

Again- dammit - I agree that while this sounds like a good idea, it will have almost no effect on the outcome of the general election.

I was happy to hear that the Labour Party are planning to put out a left of centre manifesto, but the Corbyn effect could neutralise all the good that a true Labour Party government might plan to do.
