What I do to prevent my phone being stolen.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 14 Mar 2017, 11:38 am

These days it is common for either some scroat to rip the phone out of your hand as you are using it and run away, or even, your phone can be easily lifted out of an open bag or a pocket.

Because this is becoming a regular occurrence I though I might give you a link to the BBC's consumer guide on the subject.

Here it is The BBC guide to mobile phone safety

I hope this might give a few tips towards protecting the most valuable bit of kit that we all carry about with us on a daily basis

    Any comments.

Yes, that is good information Paps, but will we remember all that ?

Many people just take such security acts for granted and the continued thievery goes on and on.

The thing is that many of those actions are ones that we should be doing anyway.

The trouble is, I think, that most mobile phone owners and users seldom consider that their precious phone might be stolen and they do not do what is really simple to do.

Once many of these actions in the list, found in the link, are done they do not need to be done again.

Yes, we do take the security of our expensive mobile phones for granted.

It is only after it is gone that we start to think about what we should have done to prevent it from happening.

My last phone was just grabbed out of my hand in a busy shopping mall and there was no way that I could have raced after the thief and got it back. All I could do was to report it stolen to my air-time provider and it was locked and unusable just a few minutes later.

I still had to buy a new phone. Mad

That's a sorry tale Angie. I am sure that you will not hold your mobile in your hand any more.
