The end of Thatcher's dream of home-ownership ?

Post by papa_umau on Mon 06 Feb 2017, 11:48 am

The government is promising a new emphasis on people who rent their homes when it unveils its housing strategy for England this week.

Housing Minister Gavin Barwell said there would be minimum tenancies and more homes built for rent in a "change of tone" from previous Tory policy.

He said the government had not given up making home ownership available to all.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the rental market was "incapable of giving people the security they need".

This makes me wonder what the Tories are up to in this turnaround of thinking

    What say you ?

It looks as if the Tories want us all to now get rented accommodation from the private sector instead of getting the choice of rented council-houses or bought and subsidised low-cost housing.

Maggie wanted us all to be home-owning, stocks and shares buyers, but we wouldn't go there, one reason why her privatising initiative resulted in the loss of our former Nationalised Industries to Foreign owned Companies. leading to the current problems with Steel, and the NHS.

Yes, about that time Britain started on that long slope down the privatised services, and if we do not get rid of this Tory government our NHS is going to be broken up and sold to the lowest bidder.

We simply cannot trust the Tories, and never could, with any of the essential services.
