Tories attack Theresa May over Sir Ivan Roger's resignation.

Brexit: Tories round on Theresa May over resignation of top diplomat in Brussels.

Critics are demanding ministers make a statement in the House of Commons on Monday.

Theresa may faces a growing Brexit backlash from Conservative MPs over the extraordinary resignation of Britain’s top diplomat in Brussels.

Ex-Tory ministers lined up to sound the alarm over respected ambassador Sir Ivan Rogers’ departure, which they claimed casts doubt over the Government’s approach to Brexit and risks the UK’s chances of securing the right deal.

If this resignation says nothing it says that Sir Ivan Roger is no longer going to be sticking his neck out over the storm that is approaching before article 50 is triggered.

His main argument for this decision was that even he was being kept in the dark over Theresa May's plans for getting out of Europe.

I don't think he was being "kept in the dark", I think that Theresa may simply has no clue as to how she is going to organise this withdrawal.

( As an original remainer, I don't think her heart is in it anyway ).

More bother to come I think.

A lot of people think that Roger's resignation will deal a death-blow to the Tory future of making any good deals with Europe, as he was the best and most experienced Euro-negotiator that Theresa May had.

I doubt very much if Roger's replacement will have the same ability as he had.

This is all leading to one big explosion prior to the triggering of article 50.

That guy Roger was nobody's fool as he knew that the very difficult negotiations that were coming could mean that HE would get the blame for failure and not Theresa May.

There is no doubt that Brexit will be a poisoned chalice for any Tory that tries to make it work.

    Well spotted Angie.

Yes, Sir Ivan Rogers said that as he cannot push the Tory agenda any more he has to give up his Civil Service job.

This leaves the Tory "Brexit" team with a very large hole in it.
