Threatened with 2,500 fine for flying remembrance flags

Outrage as WRAF veteran threatened with 2,500 fine for flying flags in memory of war heroes & Christmas.

A PENSIONER has been left devastated after she was threatened with a 2,500 fine for flying flags in memory of fallen soldiers and to celebrate Christmas in her garden.

Janis Patterson, 64, from Nottingham, grew up and worked around flags as the daughter of a serviceman and a drill instructor herself in the Women's Royal Air Force.

She put up a flag pole in the garden of her home, and has flown flags to commemorate Remembrance Sunday, and now has a Christmas flag flying.

But she was devastated to receive a letter from the council claiming her flags breached advertising laws - and threatening to fine her 2500 if the flags were not taken down.

After this story and the other one where FIFA threatened to fine players for wearing poppy armbands during a game on Remembrance Sunday, I wonder just how far these "jobsworth" officials will go to make themselves look even more stupid ?

I mean, do they never even think about using common sense when they do such ridiculous things.

What do the Robsters think of this ?

Like you Papa, I get blown away by some of the really stupid things that go on in the name of political correctness.

It is not the actual rule that matters, it is the spirit of the rule that they should be enforcing.

The term "jobsworth" really highlights just how stupid this is.
