Lib Dems blow Tories away in bye election.

Post by zathrus on Sat 03 Dec 2016, 2:14 pm

Lib Dems 'are back' after shock by-election win.

Lib Dem leader Tim Farron claims his party is "back in the big time" after it fought on the issue of Brexit to oust ex-Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith in the Richmond Park by-election.

Lib Dem challenger Sarah Olney overturned Mr Goldsmith's 23,015 majority to finish 1,872 votes ahead.

    ................................................

I don't know if this is an attack on the Tories because of Brexit or not, but the candidate that won the election won it on a platform that stood against the third runway at Heathrow.

One thing that this aberration does show is that the Tories can be beat just about anywhere if the argument is good enough.

Actually, if you read about Sarah Olney you will find that she too was against the third runway at Heathrow and after Zac Goldsmith resigned from The Tories - causing this by election - and went independent on a "no third runway" stance, Ms Olney blew Goldsmith out of the water.

    Read all of THIS

All that aside I cannot se this being the start of a great comeback by the Lib-Dems.

And now the Labour party have blown Labour away in another by-election.

Conservatives hold Sleaford as Labour pushed into fourth place behind the UKIP and Lib Dems.

Is this the Jeremy Corbyn story all over again ?

As good as it might be to see the Socialists rising up in the Labour party again, I think that the centre ground Labourites will not be too keen on voting for their party under Corbyn.
