    Theresa May is a "Milibandist"

Post by Angie baby on Sat 22 Oct 2016, 12:07 pm

The dangerous void at the heart of Theresa May's 'new Milibandism'

When Theresa May unveiled her vision for the Conservative Party earlier this month, it had an epochal air to it.

May criticised stateless corporations, denounced tax avoiders and Sir Philip Green, endorsed the role of government and pledged to serve "working class" people.

In recognising the role of the state, targeting the support of working class people rather than Middle England, and setting out the social obligations owed by businesses, May was rhetorically drawing four decades of neo-liberalism to a close.

I found this article in the site Politics.co.uk here: http://www.politics.co.uk/comment-analysis/2016/10/20/the-dangerous-void-at-the-heart-of-theresa-may-milibandism

Who does she think she is kidding ?

This woman is as right-wing as any other Tory Prime Minister of the past has been and we should try very hard to see past her dishonest attempts at trying to be anything else but that.

She obviously knows that Miliband and Blair had many of those lefty ideas, but coming from her they are disingenuous to the point of being downright lies.

She is definitely trying to steal the clothes of the centre left in the country so that gap can be filled in the ranks of the Tories.

Blair got away with it but she will definitely not.

That's a strange way to describe what Theresa May is doing, but I can see how she might want to include as many of the centre left as she can in her final administration.

And, I agree Angie, that she is no Tony Blair or Miliband and what might have worked for them will certainly not work for her. The British people are not as gullible as that.

"Milibandist", ( what a description ), she might be, but anywhere close to the centre she certainly is not.

I think that most of here are aware that May is a chancer of the highest magnitude and her efforts to try to include the centre left into the Tory annals is just not going to happen.
