ASDA shamed for multi-buy deal rip-offs.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 05 Jul 2016, 11:40 am

Asda has been publicly shamed by competition watchdogs as part of a major clampdown which will permanently phase out misleading "multi-buy" deals in supermarkets.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has revealed that it has forced Asda to end rip-off deals across its stores in a report into pricing practices at Britain's biggest grocery stores.

Get the full story from The Telegraph HERE

Although ASDA has been singled out for this criticism I am sure that many of the other big supermarkets are just as guilty of these rip-off pricing scams.

About time that all of them were censured too.

    ASDA

    Hi All,

Very interesting story. I am afraid all the 'big boys' do this, and its a con for the most part.

Not seen it in LIDL or ALDI though. I hate ASDA with a passion. Not only do I get very angry with these 'do it yourslf' check outs ( another invetion of the Devil and designed to de-skill staff ) I find the quaity of their so called 'fresh food' to be CRAP for the most part.

Most people here know I live on the Lancashire coast in what was at one time one of our premier fishing ports. So our local ASDA sell 'fresh' fish and get it from ruddy Grimsby !!!

One tip with all these products, always look for the price per 100g, as that is the best indicator of price value. You often get less for your buck and pay over the odds if the product is packaged in a fancy way.

Rarely buy from ASDA. Sainsbury's are off my radar too now.

    Thanks for the tips Technician.

One of the great things about people writing on ROB and telling of their experiences means that we all learn from these experiences.
