Boris Johnson: "A nicer version of Trump".

Post by papa_umau on Tue 31 May 2016, 11:28 am

Boris Johnson is just 'a nicer version of Donald Trump', says Ken Clarke

Veteran MP says voters are fed up with the EU campaign being turned into a 'leadership bid' for the former London mayor.

The veteran MP dismissed the former London mayor as a "nicer version of Donald Trump" leading a campaign based on immigration fears that were "about as relevant" to real issues as the controversial Republican's US presidential push.

He added: "I think Boris and Donald Trump should go away for a bit and enjoy themselves and not get in the way of the serious issues which modern countries of the 21st century face."

I guess this is Clarke's way of telling us that he is pro the European Union without actually saying he is.

The same Tory grandee has been saying that he is pro-Europe for many years.

Now he has most of the cabinet, including his arch-enemy Cameron, on his side for a change.

Yes, I am sure that is the case at the moment but the same old Clarke will revert back to his old ways once the in/out referendum is past.

Of course, it has to be the case that both Trump and Johnson are hard right wingers and that will always show through whatever else is being said by the both of them.

I have to ask. Is there enough of us in America and Britain that we are going to get a hard right wing President and Prime Minister ?

    I bloody-well hope not.

I hope not too Angie, as with Trump as the American President the world will be living on a knife edge until someone takes him out.

As far as Johnson for Prime Minister; I don't think that this is ever going to happen either as there are not enough herd-line rightists in Britain or the Tory party to ever elect him as Prime Minister.

The floating voter electorate certainly do swing to the left and right and back again, but I do not think there are enough of them to drag Britain to the hard right wing.

Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are both just balloons.

I have no clue why any electorate would be taken in by either of them.

Clarke says that Johnson is just a "nicer version of Trump" but I think that there is nothing "nice" about that buffoon as he should really be wearing a clown suit when he does his oratory.

I will admit that unlike Trump, he is not a hate figure, but he is just not Prime Minister material.
