    China's science revolution.

Post by papa_umau on Mon 23 May 2016, 12:01 pm

    China is super-sizing science.

From building the biggest experiments the world has ever seen to rolling out the latest medical advances on a massive scale and pushing the boundaries of exploration from the deepest ocean to outer space - Chinas scientific ambitions are immense.

Just a few decades ago the nation barely featured in the world science rankings. Now, in terms of research spending and the number of scientific papers published, it stands only behind the US.

But despite this rapid progress, China faces a number of challenges.

Read this story from The BBC HERE

It is quite amazing that a very backward Communist country is soon to to be leading the world in the sciences.

It is already a power-house of innovation and production in the Hi-tec manufacturing sciences as can be seen by the number of "Made in China" stickers we find on all of our Hi-tec gadgets, but it seems that very soon they are going to be doing the sciences in much bigger ways than they have in the past.

The only thing that I find hard to understand is how a truly Communist country can embrace Capitalism so readily without losing it's Communistic ethics.

    Any ideas folks ?

    Hi All,

Very interesing is that, thanks for the thread. They are certainly grafting over in China. They are also now building the world's largers radio telescope, so that's another massive project. Good luck to em.

If you actually read the linked-to report you would see that the largest radio telescope ever being built is included in that report.

China knows how to do it big and as very little of the profits made from the Chinese technical revolution exports very seldom reaches the peasant population, the oligarchs in China have almost unlimited amounts of money to spend on going BIG.

If China do not stop dumping cheap steel onto the Western markets we may see the West imposing import bans on China.

It's economy has already had a few glitches and these could be magnified if we really wanted to turn the screw.

    Hi all,

Yep, did notice the radio telescope, but had also read about it in the newspaper fairly recently. That's one massive project. China is the new 'EU' in a sense.

I would rather trade with them than some of the bandit mandarins running the Brussels 'show'....Still won't be long now.

Cameron ( just like I said ) is doing a great job of scaremongering and badgering the public to his way of thinking...God help this country, as if we DO stay in we will be able to do sod all about China's dominance.

By the way, if you DO want a clear view on the EU problems which you will not find on the BBC or ITV you really DO need to see this:

Thanks for the link Technician, but sadly, just now my broadband is just too slow for the downloading of video. ( I am working on it ).

I would have thought that staying in might have given us more power over the Chinese expansion rate than less as the power of the EU together, ( including us ), is a trading bloc that can compare with China and is still be a friend to America.

On our own we could be a tiny target that would easily be squashed by the trading power of China and India.

As I have said before, "We are no longer Great Britain with a massive empire and a fleet of ships that were the largest in the world", NO, we will be little Britain sitting out here in the Atlantic, all alone, if we pull out of Europe

Not a pleasant thought at all.
