The carrier Queen Elizabeth nearly ready.

Post by Angie baby on Sat 21 May 2016, 12:28 pm

I saw on the news yesterday that the first of the new aircraft carriers being assembled in Scotland is just about ready for sea trials.

Shame it does not have any planes to go on it.

So right Angie; as it seems that while the Tory government are willing to pay more than a hundred billion pounds on a new Trident they are loath to spend even a few million quid on our basic defence forces.

State-of-the-art aircraft carriers without planes to go on them is a totally ridiculous situation.

Then again, maybe they will have planes for them by the time that the second new carrier, the Prince of Wales, is ready to sail.

There is even talks of us buying carrier-based warplanes from America.

How crazy is that when we consider that it was us that invented and built the Sea-Harrier jump-jet, which was perfect for carrier duties ?

    Hi All,

Its a disgrace that we have no planes..What a waste of money. One tactical airburst nuke and she will be gone !

    Technician....

I have often wondered what modern war an aircraft carrier could have a role in as with long distance fire-and-forget missiles and torpedoes they must be an easy target.

Maybe they know something we don't eh ?

    Hi Zathrus

Here is how you publish images on ROB:

To post an image, use it's full URL. Go to the image at a hosting service, ( or anywhere that provides a full URL address, although this can be frowned upon ), right click it and open the Properties menus. Next, highlight the full address (URL), copy the URL and then paste it into the subject area in a forum post. For the image to appear, you MUST include the .jpg extension, and you will need to surround the address with image tags front and rear. ( [ img] in front and [ /img] at the rear). Some sites actually include these tags already. ( I have inserted a space at the front of each tag here so that these tags will show without trying to do anything else. Just remove the spaces before posting.

( BTW... you can do this via a shortcut by clicking on the wee TV icon above the compose page and filling it in with the URL address and a chosen size ).

Tip: Try to ensure that the size of the image you are copying and pasting is no bigger than 600x400 px as if it is bigger than that it may not fit onto a standard ROB page.

This might sound complicated and difficult but once you have done it, it becomes very easy to do again.

Best of luck Zath', and anybody else that does not know how to post images.
