UK retailers record biggest drop in sales in eight months, BRC figures show

Sales at British retailers suffered the largest decline in eight months in April, as customers curbed spending and unusually cold weather hampered clothing sales, a survey released on Tuesday (10 May) showed.

According to figures published by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), like-for-like sales tumbled 0.9% year-on-year in April, extending the 0.7% decline recorded in March and marking their biggest fall since August 2015.

It has been said that Britain is in limbo until the result of the brexit vote has been released.

Find out about this from The Mirror HERE

Maybe it is the case that we simply do not have as much money to spend as we used to ?

    Opinions please.

I don't think that we should worry too much about these peaks and troughs of consumption, as I think they are a normal happening in consumerism.

One thing that seems to be beating that trend is the numbers of new car sales as it has been said that car sales are the highest they have ever been in 2015.

If we really want stuff we always seem to be able to find the money to buy it.

Yes, these "peaks and troughs" as you call them are just a normal cycle of events but I think the cycles are getting deeper and longer these days.

HERE is a very strong report that says that Britain will NOT vote to leave and why, from The Guardian online.

There has been strong indications that the weak pound and the reduced sales on the high-street are so because the British people are nervous about the risk that we might vote to leave the EU.

Now, as both sides of this argument are using scare tactics - just as they did before the Scottish independence vote - we are no longer thinking about what good we may get out of staying OR leaving, we are now frightened by what may happen if we leave or stay.
