    Amazon's new warehouse in Edinburgh

Post by papa_umau on Sun 07 Feb 2016, 1:05 pm

Amazon are set to open a massive new warehouse in Edinburgh so that they will be able to say that they can deliver to the whole of central Scotland within an hour of ordering each item.

This plan is not getting an easy run through the Scottish parliament as opposition MSP's have said that if they do not start paying the new legal Living Wage they will get no more cash assistance from the Scottish Government.

I think this is a "watch this space" bit of news.

I think that new Living Wage is going to be very hard to enforce when they have not even been able to enforce the Minimum Wage.

At 8.25 an hour this will be difficult to pay for some small businesses.

Is it compulsory or voluntary as the advice over the internet is very confused about this point ?

Technically, there are three levels of national wage: The National Minimum wage. The National Living Wage and the Living wage.

HERE is the official information about these new rates due in April.

HERE is the official government calculator, which should help you to find out what you are due.

As usual, the government do not make these new rates very easy to understand.
