    Pay On Time site

Post by papa_umau on Mon 01 Feb 2016, 11:36 am

As this has become a serious attack on wholesalers and manufacturers of goods, the practice of deliberately delaying payment for goods or services supplied by wholesalers and manufacturers has created a battle in law that could very well find big supermarkets like Tesco and others being heavily fined for these practices.

Tesco itself was in the news recently for exactly this practice and this case is ongoing. Here's a report from The Guardian.

Because this is now becoming a regular occurence in many industries in Britain a website has been created to specialise on this trend.

Please find the Pay On Time website by clicking on the blue link.

I know that this problem does not actually or usually effect the end-use customers or buyers because we never see this habit being sent down the chain in better prices for us, we should still support the wholesalers and manufacturers as they give us employment that would be lost if they failed because of not getting their bills paid on time.

What do you folks think of this ?

This is one of my own pet hates as it is the small companies like mine that get hit the hardest when their well-off commercial customers delay payments for services rendered.

As we can do very little about this we just have to just keep struggling until these big companies actually pay up.

It's just not right and it is long past time that the government protected us from these tight-fisted companies.

What that new website will do, I don't know, but it is good that it will keep these non-payers on their toes.

That's if they actually read it or even get to know it exists.

Well said Zath', I forgot to mention the small companies that supply maintenance and cleaning service etc'. They too get hit hard by these companies not paying their bills and invoices.

While I was in the Satellite business I once installed a large steerable antenna on the roof of a sports complex and I ran outputs from it's receiver to five different rooms in the complex. The job took me all day to complete and the owners of the sports complex were very pleased with the result.

It took them nine months to pay their bill.

Know how you feel mate ! Mad

Isn't it funny that when we don't pay our bills on time we get hit by threats of visiting bailiffs and all kinds of nasty things happening to us, and yet it seems that the big companies can do this as much as they want without anybody getting on to them.

It's just not right ! Evil or Very Mad

I hate the creeping 'cloning' of our High Streets by the multi-National, non tax paying Corporations. If you haven't already done so, watch The Town Which took on the Tax Man, on BBC Iplayer. It showa a Welsh town which has investigated the Tax Haven dodges which the Multi Nationals exploit. It is an eye opener for sure!

Yes, I for one watched that show considering that I like all that sort of stuff.

Great programme, but it did not tell us how we can beat the taxman as individuals as doing that is far too expensive.
