    Lidl ramps up expansion plans.

Post by Angie baby on Sun 31 Jan 2016, 1:15 pm

Lidl ramps up expansion plans as other grocers try to slim down.

Lidl filed 48 planning applications in the final quarter of 2015, compared to Aldi who filed 17.

Here's the shopping news from The Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/

I find it quite amazing that the attack on the market share of grocery produce by Aldi and Iidl, especially Lidl is getting stronger and stronger while the big supermarkets are shrinking by just about as much at the same time.

Will the rise and rise of the German discounters ever slow down and will the big supermarkets ever find out their secrets ?

    What say you ?

I just hope that they are not expanding too quickly as look what happened to The Royal Bank of Scotland when Fred-The-Shred Goodwin did that.

Maybe the speed of expansion of Aldi is just about right while Lidl are growing too fast.

We shall see in the future, I am sure.

Yes, while the German owners of Aldi and Lidl certainly seem to know what they are doing and Germans do have a reputation for being precise about such things, it is still a dangerous thing to do to spread ones-self too thinly.

    Right on Zath'.

Many companies have done this to their destruction before.

The old maxim in successful trading is to "never stand still" as if they try to do that they will inevitably start to slide.

I guess that it is all about expanding carefully so that such things don't happen.
