How would Brexit effect UK football ?

Post by Angie baby on Sun 31 Jan 2016, 12:59 pm

Would a British exit change the character of the Premier League, which relies so heavily on European players and managers? Or would it give a boost to home-grown talent ?

The only UK football boss that is willing to speak about this is Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore, who gave an insight into his position last October, in a little reported speech to the Institute of Directors.

According to the International Business Times, he said: "I believe we, in the UK, must be in Europe from a business perspective. I believe in the free movement of goods, but when it comes to services, we must be entitled, especially in the audiovisual world, to territorialism."

    ................................................

Now there's a word I have not heard attached to Britain exiting the European Union. Territorialism Suspect

I would like to ask the exit voters if they would be willing to lose the availability of European players and managers to the British game or would it actually be better if all of our players and managers were truly British ?

Hi again babe.... I did not know you were a football fan ! Basketball

I am sure that if we do pull out of Europe many of the remaining members will be wanting to punish us heavily for that act and the movement of football players and managers could be stopped in it's tracks.

We would not really know until after the fact.

I suppose that might be true Papa.

I cannot imagine the severity of the revenge that might be forthcoming if Britain pulls out of Europe lock-stock-and-barrel.

The punishments that Europe could inflict on us could be quite severe if they wanted to.

They COULD be, but WOULD they be.

I guess that we are not going to know what might happen to Britain until the day that we do ( God forbid ), draw completely out of the EU.
