    Saudi, first woman councillor elected

Post by Angie baby on Sun 13 Dec 2015, 12:25 pm

A great very first small step for the Arabs, allowing women to take part in elections at last.

While this is a very important first step for female emancipation in the Arab world they still have a long way to go.

They still won't let any of these councillors talk to men in public or even to drive a car ! Suspect

I found this bit of news from the BBC here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-35086357

    Opinions please ?

    Nicely spotted Angie !

I agree that the female gender has a very long way to go in many of the middle Eastern states in order to have equality with men.

Even here in Britain the glass ceiling still has to be broken for full female emancipation.

I will get excited about this when the full Sharia states like Iran start to make moves in this direction.

I find it amazing that religion can actually back up the exploitation and the persecution of women in the Middle East.

That's the exact problem I keep thinking about. It seems that religion ruins natural evolution and even in the free West it has kept us in the dark for hundreds of years.

In the Arab worlds they are still in the dark ages and even the most enlightened of Muslims, like the Saudis, can only move inexorably slowly when making such changes.

NOW... you know why I am so hard down on religion !

When I see adverts of 3.00 a text for Save The Children or Water Aid in order to feed and give clean water to third world children to try to stop the deaths of nine million children every year as quoted by: The Partnership for Maternal, New-born and Child Health website HERE I wonder where their all powerful God or Gods are when this is happening to so many innocents.

If he/she/it actually exists and is supposed to care, why is this being allowed to happen ?
