"War is unthinkable" says Major General.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 27 Oct 2015, 12:19 pm

UK won't go to war alone ever again, says Army chief: Major General in charge of 30,000 troops claims it is 'unthinkable' and Britain 'will always be part of a wider force'

Army chief said it is 'almost unthinkable' UK would go to war alone again.
Major General Patrick Sanders was speaking at a huge military exercise.

He said Britain will 'always expect to be part of a wider force' such as Nato

But, defence sources insisted UK could still fight its own war if necessary.

I wonder where HE was when we went to war with Argentina and the Falklands or with Blair in Iraq ?

Well good folks. do you think that maybe we have gone to war enough and are we finally becoming a peace-loving country at last ?

"Not on your nelly", as they say.

Just like with Thatcher and the Falklands war and with Blair and the Iraq war, if enough need is found for us to go to war we will do it at the drop of a hat.

We are a warmongering country and have been for many hundreds of years.

Yes, I agree that we are a "warmongering" country Zath', and I think that over the years we have made war, either for our own reasons or by getting dragged into other people's wars.

Before we can start to live with each-other at peace a few things are going to have to change:

1). We peace-lovers of the world are going to have to ban all religion, as skewed religion is the main cause for most of the wars of the past.

2). The human race is going to have to evolve from Homo Sapiens to Homo-Superior before we can truly live together in peace.

The first is almost impossible to do and the second will take many more thousands of years to come about if it ever does because of the risk of us destroying ourselves in the next nuclear third world war.

Imperialist and warmongering, condemning all others.

I agree HG, but it is hard to be a pacifist like Jeremy Corbyn is, and I would like to be, when greed for money land and power takes us into war when all we are doing is trying to defend ourselves.

I am unable to say, for those reasons, that "at every and any time is war wrong to enter into".

The "turn the other cheek" folk usually end up needing the people that are willing to fight in order to protect their and our free world from attack.

In other words, "defensive" war seldom comes about without offensive attack" taking place first.

Certainly a difficult subject ! Neutral

Must admit I like Corbyn, he sticks by his values and I really hope he can move the Labour Party back towards its core principles. I would definitely vote for him if he can do so; otherwise I stick with the Greens.

I don't think that Corbyn's personal values and beliefs are going to be watered down as the leader of Labour, but he is going to have a very hard time of it getting the Blairites to come over to his side

This could finish up with the Labour part being as split down the middle as the Tories have already been for many years.
