British consumers owed 1.1 bn by energy companies

British consumers owed 1.1bn by energy giants, gas and electric bills 'way off the mark'

Britain's energy firms are hoarding 1.1bn ($1.7bn) of consumers' cash and customers are being urged to reclaim that money.

According to uSwitch.com, some 12m households are in line for refunds after using less energy than they paid for, based on estimated bills that were "way off the mark".

New figures suggest that the average home could reclaim 93 from their supplier, with over one in ten due more than 200.

HERE is the full report from The International Business Times.

Well folks, are you going to apply for this money, and if not, why not ?

I have to ask. Why is it that we have to reclaim this money when they have obviously done it to a lot of people ?

Surely this is a job for Trading Standards or some other government department ?

I totally agree with you on that Zathrus.

These thieving energy companies, and others, should not be allowed to do this in the first place.

If the watchdogs were doing the job that they were designed to do they would be keeping on top of these chancers.

If they can add up that lost money so precisely, why cannot they just force the energy companies to give us all back say 30.00 each ?

If they were made to do this they would think twice about overcharging us in the first place.

I am so sick of British Gas, ( Centrica ), that I, and thousands of others have went with the "One Big Switch" offer where we are all taken to the First Utility energy company who guarantee around 200 a year savings.

Sadly, if any of you want to sign up with this offer, it closed today.
