MPs given rights to a 10% rise.

Post by papa_umau on Sat 18 Jul 2015, 12:21 pm

MPs given go ahead for 10% pay rise to 74,000

MPs' salaries will rise from 67,060 to 74,000, the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority has announced.

The 10% pay rise has been approved despite Downing Street and a succession of MPs saying it was "not appropriate".

IPSA chairman Sir Ian Kennedy said that MPs' pay had been a "toxic" issue "which had been ducked for decades".

While just about everybody, ( except the MPs and the fat-cats ), have been held down to pay rises that are attached to the inflation rate, it is morally indefensible for MPs to get 10%.

The saying rules for those and rules for such as those comes to mind here.

What do you good folks think of this ?

I think that it is disgusting. Evil or Very Mad

Of course they need a pay-rise that is equal to inflation, and even a one percent rise would have been acceptable, but this ten percent rise is a kick in the teeth for ordinary workers.

Even if the IPSA say that political pay-rises is a "toxic" subject, it would be far less toxic if they got what the rest of us are stuck with each year.

There is absolutely NO REASON, why they should get ten times what the rest of us get.

All we need here is a little bit of reason.

    Pay Rise

    Hi all,

Of COURSE they need the 10%. You are not seriously considering that our wonderful MP's for one moment should ride our trains ( the most expensive in Europe) in anyhting other than FIRST CLASS are you ?. God forbid they have to slum it in cattle class like the rest of us !. 10% extra will contribute nicely towards the next fare increase.

If I didn't recognise that as tongue-in-cheek or a bit sarky, I would be wild about that statement.

As it is said in sarcasm I have to admit that you are dead right there.

I saw a mention in my newspaper yesterday that an MP, ( cannot remember his name ), took a taxi for a distance of thirty feet and claimed expenses of 50p.

They are a bunch of greedy wasters and they should be bound by some much more stringent rules as far as expenses go.

As far as their wages are concerned, I think that this group, the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, who set MPs wages should be looked at themselves.
