    Timeshares and holiday clubs.....

Post by papa_umau on Tue 31 Mar 2015, 12:26 pm

A number of people in the past have been caught via the time-share and holiday-club rip-offs that are now almost commonplace.

Before entering into any contract for a time-share or a holiday-club deal it is wise to get to know the pitfalls in such deals.

Here is a fact-sheet from The BBC about exactly this: Timeshare and holiday-club scams

I hope that the advice found in this fact-sheet will help people from getting caught and if they are, will help them to get out of such deals.

    Best of luck.

Yes, while I think that most people are now aware of the risks associated with time-shares I guess that there is always new mugs coming along.

I wouldn't even consider such an act, but there still may be many out their that might benefit from your link Paps.

I remember one time, when I was on holiday in Majorca, a very good-looking guy approached us two girls and gave us the shpiel.

As we liked him, and for no other reason, we decided to go with him to see the timeshares on view.

While we were going to them I said to the guy: "Can you take a refusal", and he just poo-pooed my question and went on with his shpiel.

We arrived, were offered wine and nibbles at the place and we did have a good time until my pal and I flatly refused to take out a time-share.

He even asked for his manager to come in to try to explain it better, to no avail, and very soon they started to get ratty.

They eventually just showed us the door and left us to walk back to the holiday accommodation.

He definitely did not like the word no Very Happy

I had a similar experience myself some years back.

These sales-persons are so well trained that they have answers to all of the reasons you might give for not wanting to buy.

The move of getting the "manager" in is a trick that they use all of the time as the "manager" has final answers that are simply hard to refuse.

You did very well resisting their hard-sell Angie; many are unable to.

That it is why it is always best to just say a firm no to theáperson that is making the initial approaches.
