    Biggest overhaul of consumer rights.

Post by papa_umau on Sat 28 Mar 2015, 1:25 pm

    From .Gov.UK site:

Consumers will have enhanced, easy to understand rights following Royal Assent for the Consumer Rights Act being given today (26 March 2015).

The Act is a major part of the governments reform of UK consumer law and is predicted to boost the economy by 4 billion over the next decade by streamlining complicated law from 8 pieces of legislation into one place.

It will also introduce a range of new rights for consumers when it comes into force on 1 October 2015 including a 30-day time period to return faulty goods and replacement rights for faulty digital content.

    See the whole paper HERE

There is no doubt that the protections for consumers has needed a shakeup like this for a very long time.

I do hope that once it is in the statutes that we can get access to these new rights easily and without cost.

We shall see, and I will keep and eye on the developments here.

You will have to Paps, ( keep an eye on it ), I mean, as while this government is in charge we will see more protections going for the business-end than will be going for the people-end.

The fact that the Tories are hand-in-glove with business will always come to the fore when such things are being done.

Nice analogy Angie, to the picture of the sinking Tory ship.

Nice one HG, but I don't think you will have to torpedo the Tory lifeboat as it will be way out in the ocean without any oars. Twisted Evil

Sadly that is one ship that is still afloat and now that it has a full crew it is going to be the same pirates as they have always been.

I fear that "more of the same" and the continuation of their draconian austerity policies is going to hammer the poorest and weakest right into the ground.

Even with a strong Scottish-led, ( SNP ), opposition it is going to be difficult to beat the Tories with their small but clear majority.
