The Queen:"Nothing to do with a hung parliament"

Post by Angie baby on Sat 07 Mar 2015, 12:40 pm

Queen 'may miss VE Day commemorations to distance herself from hung Parliament'

With polls predicting a hung Parliament after the May 7 election, it has been reported that Buckingham Palace wants to ensure that The Queen is 'one step removed'

Find the story in the Telegraph here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/queen-elizabeth-II/11454989/Queen-preparing-to-distance-herself-from-hung-Parliament.html

    .....................................................................

I wonder what she is trying to do via this move ?

Is she trying to force two or more parties into another coalition ?

The Queen is traditionally apolitical, she does not vote. I can see that she would not wish to be seen to endorse any of the political parties so soon after the Election. She is naturally wary of the Press attempting to make any attempt to sensationalise any unwary gesture she may make.

Yeah, she is one shrewd cookie.

Mind you, in my lefty opinion, I would be very surprised if she was not a closet Tory. Twisted Evil

Even if you are right there Papa, as HG said, she can still not show what her political leanings are.

Personally, I would like to see no influence being brought to bear from either the churches or royalty when it comes to democracy.

Nevertheless, I do not think that that will be the case.
