    The cash-back scams.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 24 Feb 2015, 11:05 am

I have been suspicious of the latest gimmick to hit the high-streets and the shopping internet.

    Cash-back schemes

There are stories just about every week about people being failed by their cash-back offers and never getting a penny, but I have found a new one that is quite disturbing.

Here are a selection of links examining this phenomenon:

Why do cash-back schemes exist I wonder ?

Well folks, I believe that they are just another tool of the marketeers where they try to attract customers by offering these cash giveaways.

I always follow the old maxim: "If it looks too good to be true, then it often is".

Do you have any stories to tell us about such scams ?

I haven't actually been scammed this way - YET - but that is certainly another one to watch out for.

I have found during my sojourns around the internet and shopping on the high street that these cash-back schemes pop up just about everywhere.

As there has been so much bad history with these schemes I have now grown to reject them completely when they are offered.

Yes, and now there are a number of websites that encourage the application for cash-back on purchases.

It seems that "Top Cash-back" is the main one here: http://www.topcashback.co.uk

Somebody has to pay for these cash-backs, if they are successful, and I wonder who it actually is that does this ?

These schemes don't interest me. I will pay a fair price for goods and that's it, as far as I'm concerned. I've never been part of the 'something for nothing' culture.

The marketeers will be hoping that very few of their proposed victims will be like you.

I am VERY like you in that I strongly resist all of these marketing ploys too.

    Well done HG.
