    Salesmen insult woman car-buyers ?

Post by papa_umau on Tue 03 Feb 2015, 11:52 am

A study by "Good Housekeeping" magazine has found that according to their survey, seven out of ten women that shop for a car with their partner are either overlooked by sales-staff, who make it clear that they prefer to chat to the man, or they are ignored altogether, yet the decision to actually buy the car is normally a joint one with only five percent of the women leaving the final decision to their other half.

Two thirds of women said that they thought dealerships could be more female-friendly, and almost half felt that car-makers failed to take a woman driver's needs into account.

The poll of 2,600 women found that two-thirds of them felt that car-reviews were aimed at male drivers.

Well folks, what do you think of that one then ?

I wonder if our ex-new-car-salesman member has seen this one ?

Mind you I think that the report is right that as it is the men who have the interest in the motors, that is why the sales-people defer to them when a couple come in to buy.

    Sexist ? Maybe !

I guess it all comes down to who takes the lead in the car-buying negotiations, as if the woman is more forceful and takes the lead I am sure that the salesperson will gravitate to the lead buyer.

In my view, as a strong feminist. I believe that in the main it is the men that take this important lead in the saleroom. The sales-executive has to be sharp enough to pick up which of the buying partners is taking the lead and defer to them, whatever their gender happens to be.

    Ex New-Car-salesman...... Question

    Nice one Papa.

I still haven't got my wee car, but when I eventually go to buy one I will leave my partner AT HOME.

Mind you the "car-buying guide" given by Ex New-car-salesman puts the frighteners up me.

I hope it's not as nasty as that !Evil or Very Mad
