How to avoid the rogue builders.

Post by papa_umau on Sun 30 Nov 2014, 12:44 pm

As it is well known that the dodgy builders and garden and driveway "specialists" target elderly people who are vulnerable, I thought that it might be a good idea to let the BBC's Matt Alwright tell us how to avoid these rogues.

There are six sections to this advice and here is the first one:

( 1). BEWARE OF THE ROGUE

The chances are you've heard some horror stories about builders or you may even have a few of your own.

The Office of Fair trading and Citizens Advice get over 125,000 complaints about dodgy maintenance or repair work every year.

There are plenty of good tradespeople but it's fair to say you need to be careful. Choosing the wrong one (whether it's an electrician, bricklayer, carpenter or anything else) can be expensive.

Working out the total cost to UK householders is tricky but one study estimates it's close to 2bn a year. Spending a little time finding the right builder could save you some serious cash.

Find the other five by clicking on THIS link.

    Thanks Matt !

Yeah, thanks to you and Matt Alwrite for bringing this to our attention.

The thing is that we will very seldom have those facts to hand when we need them.

Once again, I think it all goes down to basic common sense.

While that is certainly true Zath', I do think that these animals deliberately target the old and the weak when they go looking for victims.
