    The Latest Pay-Pal gadget.

Post by papa_umau on Tue 19 Aug 2014, 12:12 pm

In what seems to me to be just too easy to be safe, Pay-Pal have introduced a new gadget that allows anybody to make payments or take payments via Bluetooth over your mobile-phone.

All you have to be to use this clever card-reader is to be a resident of the UK and to have a Pay-Pal account.

Read more about this gadget HERE

Well folks, what do you think of that then ?

While this gadget looks sharp and clever it does hold people to the Pay-Pal system.

I can see this new idea being open for abuse by the smart-ass hackers out there.

Yes Zath, just like phones, if these gadgets can be hacked they WILL BE hacked.

They could finish up being just another weak link in the chain of security.

Gotta laugh. I've had my triangle for 3 years now and love it. No strain no pain and the cash is in right then. Never had a single prob.
    Best.

What the hell is a "triangle" Tuppence ?

Is that just an American-ism for something else we might know about ?

BTW....I looked into that Pay-Pal card reader and I found that it is mostly aimed at small shopkeepers, It's full name is "the MobileMerchant card reader", and it is aimed at those that don't want to pay for the normal card-readers that haveC&P and contactless payments transers on them.

They also charge 2.75 percent of the amount that is being transferred.

Triangle is the card reader. It clicks into my phone. As to the 2.75% ya know-I more than make up 3c per dollar on sales. Lost more in sales than that before I got the slider. A regular card reader coats $750. Plus 5-7% in fees AND it takes 3 days to 2 weeks to go into my account. The PayPal slider was free, 2.75% in fees and the transfer is immediate. I can also adjust the tax rate depending on which state I'm in so thats a consideration. It also isn't dependent on electricity to run.

Thanks for that Tuppence; it seems that you are way ahead of us as far as hitech is concerned as we do not have any "triangle" payment methods over here.

The closest to that might be the iZettle machine in the UK.

That machine is still aimed at store-owner use.

The only other one might be the Paypal machine ,( mentioned earlier ), but even it is designed for the small shopkeeper or trader.
