Hotel 'rip-off': £75 for three bottles of water

A five-star hotel in London is facing criticism after it charged a businessman £75 for three bottles of water.

By Oliver Smith of The Telegraph:

Edward Heaton met a client at the Wellesley Hotel in Knightsbridge, and ordered three 500ml bottles of San Pellegrino sparkling water – which usually costs around 60 pence each in a supermarket.

The hotel, however, charged him £5.50 for each of the bottles, before adding on a “minimum spend” of £50.17, and a service charge of £8.33 – bringing the total bill to £75.

What does this suggest to you ?

To me, it suggests that the foolish rich are easily parted from their money.

    Anybody ?

Oh, I so laughed at that one ! Very Happy

It seems obvious to me that the people that regularly use such high-level hotels can afford to pay £75 for three bottles of water, they deserve to get ripped of when it is done.

    "Hell mend em" I say.

Yes Zath, it is a true and accurate saying that, "a fool and his money are easily parted" and those with a lot of it seem to be unable to measure what is good value for money when they spend their riches.

This is not just envy, it is basic common sense.
