Where's the poor Brits when 2 million of them fly off?

Post by papa_umau on Wed 23 Jul 2014, 10:55 am

Start of school holidays will see 2 MILLION people leave UK as summer getaway begins

More than two million Britons will head overseas this weekend as the summer holiday getaway gathers pace.

Spain is the number one destination for those hitting continental hotspots, according to travel organisation Abta.

Read more on this from The Daily Mirror HERE

As one who always puts most of my efforts online into fighting for justice for the poor in Britain I sometimes wonder where all of these poor people are hiding as so many seem able to afford expensive holidays abroad every year.

Also, when I see the cost of housing skyrocketing in London and the South East and this is not putting many people off when they are competing for the shortage of homes in these areas; here too I wonder where they are getting all of this money to spend on housing down there ?

    Anybody ?

    Holidays? What are they?

The last holiday my kids and I had was paid for by my father (caravan holiday in Cornwall) Apart from that, two weekends a year camping. Since 2007, nada.

Your story just proves that in the world's seventh richest country in the world these riches are simply not shared out in any meaningful way.

When I was young HG I too was as poor as a church mouse with the only holidays I had being camping holidays with The Scouts.

My mother was widowed when my dad was killed in the Royal Airforce, four years after the war ended, and she struggled to provide for myself and my sister for many years. In fact after my mum had to go to Scotland to try to find decent work while staying with her sister, I was hived off to my granny in Ireland while my sister was left with our Nana in England. I was twelve years old before I was re-united with my sister in Scotland.

That is what is properly described as poverty and it has made me appreciate everything I have earned for myself and to also try to help, in any way that I can, the truly poor in Britain.

That history has also made me into a Socialist and impossible for me to support anything like The Tories.

    Interesting story Paps.

Mind you I bet that many of the people that have flown off to sunny climes will still be paying for those holidays well into next year.

It is amazing what you can still get on "tick"

Yes Zath'. I simply don't believe that many of these people are paying for these holidays with what might be called "free" money.

For some it is still a "jam today and to hell with tomorrow" world.

More fodder for the payday lenders and the true loan sharks I think.
