What's the story with Isis ?

Post by papa_umau on Mon 30 Jun 2014, 11:21 am

In recent days in Iraq we have seen the rise of a true army that has taken many areas and cities in Iraq. This army is called ISIS.

We never heard this name until recently and because of this I was wondering just who and what are they ?

WELL... I have found the answer HERE

In reality, while this newish "army" is mostly made up of Sunny Muslims, it is also an offshoot of the Iranian Taliban.

It's major driving force is to rid Northern Iraq of all Shiite Muslims and Christians, and while doing this to try to turn Iraq into a Sharia-law controlled country.

They are probably THE most dangerous offshoot of extremist Islam anywhere in the Middle East.

What do you good folks think of ISIS and do you think we should be try to interfere, or even help, in the desire to defeat it in Iraq ?

    UPDATE

Here is an interesting examination of what is going on in Iraq just now.

Sometimes it is good to listen to the argument from a slightly different and more expert direction.

What do you think of this discussion ?

I for one am wondering why and how this mob suddenly became an influential force in Iraq ? I had never heard of them before this latest war.

Yes, they are made up of many different Islamic factions who have been brought together in order to fulfill the wishes of the most radical forces in the middle East.

The only way that this might be dealt with properly would be if all of the middle Eastern states got their heads together in order to settle Islam into the best and the most civilised of the teachings in their Quoran.

Unlike the Christian and other major religions of the world, Islam does not have any hierarchy that can lay down policy from on high. This means that it is usually the strongest and most radical of the individuals that gets to plan policy.

This is a very dangerous situation to have festering in the middle East as it could finish up causing a third world war and even some version of Armageddon.

Oh Papa, that is rather frightening.

If the civilised world dared to interfere, the polarisation that is at the moment curtailed to the Muslims themselves, would very likely go global as the superpowers looked after their interests and needs in the area, like oil and gas for instance.

AND, Angie, there is nothing and nobody more frightening than the words of the self-crowned Calif of the Muslim Nation, ISIS, as he preaches death and destruction to all who are not Sunny Muslims, including the Shiite Muslims that he is trying to eradicate.

He crowned himself caliph of the Muslim nation, successor to the Prophet Mohammed, and chose a religiously charged day – the start of the holy month of Ramadan – to deliver a landmark speech to his subjects.

The calm voice of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi echoed grandly in the audio file released this week as he implored the world’s Muslims to rush to his newly created caliphate across Syria and Iraq. He would, he pledged, return to them “dignity, might, rights and leadership”.
