    second day of ticket shambles.

Post by papa_umau on Wed 14 May 2014, 11:40 am

People trying to get access to the last issue of Commonwealth Games tickets have been having a hard time actually getting the tickets that they want.

The website that promised to service this need, ( Ticketmaster ), has now failed on two consecutive days to do the job that it is getting paid to do.

Text from Clyde 2 radio site:

The sale of Commonwealth Games tickets remain suspended while problems that caused long delays for customers are resolved.

Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg apologised ``unreservedly'' to people affected as the ticketing website and phone line closed at 6pm yesterday.

An extra 100,000 tickets across all 17 sports and the opening and closing ceremonies went on sale on Monday, but problems quickly developed with people facing long delays and issues with finalising transactions. Around 55,000 tickets have so far been sold, organisers said.

The site was initially closed for an hour yesterday morning to allow technicians to investigate the problem but they failed to resolve it resulting in a second day of delays and frustrations for sports fans hoping to secure tickets for the Games.

Mr Grevemberg said Ticketmaster, which operates the website, was told to close it along with the call centre set up to handle sales until the problem is fixed.

    The problem still persists !

I have to ask: Why are these private companies so badly run that this seems to happen regularly ?

This happened at the Olympic Games too and even the company given the job to secure the Olympics site failed so bad that they had to be augmented by the army and extra police at great extra cost.

A good analogy Zath'. Twisted Evil

It appears that they have promised that once the tickets again go on sale tomorrow that the glitches in the websites and the phone-lines will finally be sorted.

    We shall see !
